Random Laser Cutter Projects
I first used a laser cutter when I made a custom catan board for my friends birthday. I was instantly hooked on the process, I loved how I could use my CAD and illustration skills to create IRL.
What follows are a few of the smaller projects I’ve made over the years.
Fractal Puzzle Gift
Home Made Mecanno & Skeletons
I made this set for my niece who loves building things. By connecting the different joins and bars with pipe cleaners or split pins she could make halloween models. The pro’s here were that it was quick and fun, that the ply is great to draw/paint onto. But the downside was a lot of sanding. Be careful to use non-toxic materials for this stuff!
Signs and Mascots
Here I laser cut and engraved a few different signs and the mascot for Zero BS CRM (my then company). These were nice small gifts for people where I could express some creativity and give them something personalised. The mandala piece has a Dune quote “Fear is the mind killer…” and was for Alice.
Laser/CNC Graveyard
This is a full wardrobe I designed in Fusion 360 with many features, all tabbed out. Ultimately I didn’t build it, but you can definitely make some great furniture this way. Sadly Birch ply has also got exorbitantly expensive in the UK, which further prohibits this because it’s just the best, visually.
